Subscription prices and plan rules change often. This page explains how we research, check and update every guide on ListenLedger.
1. We start with official sources
Prices, plan names, trial terms and cancellation rules come from the company’s own pages, such as Audible’s plan and help pages, Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited pages, and Spotify’s support pages. When we state a fact, we link to the page it came from.
2. We date every price
Each guide shows when we last checked its prices and plan terms. If you see a date, that is the day we confirmed the details on the official site. Prices can change after that date, so always check the final price before you pay.
3. We show the math
When we say one option is cheaper, we show how we worked it out, for example the cost per book at one, two or three books a month. Our examples use the published list price unless we say otherwise.
4. We say who should skip it
No subscription is right for everyone. Our guides explain the downsides and name the readers who would be better off with a different option, including free choices like your public library.
5. We are clear about hands-on testing
When we have used a service ourselves, we say so and describe what we saw. When a guide is based on official terms and research rather than our own use, we say that too. We do not claim to have tested something we have not.
6. How we use AI tools
We use AI tools to help organize research and draft some text. A person on our team checks every price, plan detail and claim against the official source before a guide is published, and edits the guide for accuracy and clarity.
7. We update guides regularly
- Price and plan guides: checked every month
- Other guides: checked at least every three months
- Any guide: updated as soon as we learn of a change
8. Affiliate links do not decide our advice
Some links on ListenLedger earn us a commission. We recommend free and non-affiliate options whenever they are the better fit. Read more on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Corrections
If you spot an outdated price or an error, please tell us on our Contact page. When we fix a meaningful error, we update the “last checked” date on that guide.
